Parent-Teacher Conferences

November 09   6:30 – 8:30
November 10   1:00 – 3:00

Parents are encouraged to utilize the communication tools of FamilyLink and Moodle to stay current with student course expectations and progress. We offer Parent-Teacher conferences as a personalized model of additional communication.

There are two scheduled conference times to provide parents an opportunity to meet with teachers. Both the evening and afternoon conferences are designed in arena format. We ask that teachers and parents limit this time to five minutes for a brief conversation and academic update. If you need a longer conversation, please email or call the teacher to schedule that conference.

Both the evening and afternoon conferences are designed in arena format in the Names Gym and Connelly Campus Center. Please use the student parking lot and enter on the lower floors as those are the areas where the conferences will be held. Parents will receive a mid-semester report card (mailed November 4). Please bring your report card to locate the teachers you wish to see.

Faculty will be located by department. Note that all Biology teachers (Mr. Barnhart, Ms. J DeGroot, Ms. Phillips) will be at a national conference on Thursday and unavailable for conferences that day. Any faculty member unable to attend either day will have a sign up for a return phone conference or email correspondence within the next two school days.

Veteran's Day

Winter Sports Schedules

Schedules for Bellarmine Winter Athletics are now available online. With the change to a new league, we are still working through a few issues, thus schedules are subject to change. We appreciate your patience as we transition from the Narrows League to the South Puget Sound League.

Click here for the Winter Athletics homepage.

Tryouts for winter sports being on Monday, November 14.

Interim Report Cards

Parents receive written report cards twice each semester.  Interim (9 week progress) reports will be mailed on Friday, November 4.  These will reflect all academic work completed through Monday, October 31.  FamilyLink reports will continue to be updated as faculty enter grades. You will receive the next paper grade report, the final grade that is reflected on the transcript, at the end of the semester.

Students needing academic assistance (below a 1.8 g.p.a.) will be assigned to Academic Probation based on the interim report grades. A program of academic assistance is offered for these students.

Operation Keep 'Em Warm and Fed Blanket Drive

Operation Keep 'Em Warm and Fed is having a blanket drive during the month of November.  We are looking for new or used blankets to help keep the homeless warm and protected as the weather turns cold!  We will also accept used winter coats -- really, anything warm!  The drive officially runs through November 22, when we will be delivering our blankets (and coats) to the homeless. We will accept blankets at anytime; however, we are especially targeting Friday, November 18th as "Fleecy Friday," when we hope many students will "wear" a blanket to school and then donate it in Room A7 at the end of the day.

National Merit Scholars

We are proud to announce that 13 seniors have been named Commended Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Program, one senior has been named a National Merit Semifinalist, and two have been named National Hispanic Scholars.
Click here for detailed information and the names of the students.

Financial Aid Applications Available in November

Financial aid applications for the 2017-18 school year are now available and are due no later than December 31, 2016. We will not be able to guarantee aid for anyone who has not turned in their application by the due date. If your application is postmarked after December 31, 2016, you will be placed on a wait list for financial aid. If there is any financial aid remaining, completed applications will be handled in the order they are received. Application forms are available online here.

See Financial Aid Update for more details and a link to the financial aid application form.

Emergency Schedule – Inclement Weather

Please familiarize yourself with our emergency schedule for inclement weather. The principal or designee will announce school delays and closures by 6:20 a.m. at the latest. An announcement of a late start means school will start at 9:00 a.m. or at 10:00 a.m. If conditions worsen or predictions are poor, students and parents should listen again by 8:00 a.m. before leaving home to see if school delay has been changed to "cancelled."

Learn more here about the emergency schedule including radio and TV stations to listen to, website updates, assignments and activities.

Service Opportunities at Bellarmine

Bellarmine graduates young men and women of competence, compassion and conscience, who are committed to leadership and service.

Bellarmine has many ways to get involved in service. From local opportunities such as L'Arche Farms and our Adopt a Family program to our global service trips, students have a wide variety of options when it comes to serving those in need. Also, in the classroom students are educated about service and compassion during their sophomore and junior years.
Adopt a Family
Since 1991, Bellarmine has provided Christmas for families in need. Through the Adopt-A-Family program, volunteers provide Christmas day meals, a "stocked cupboard," Christmas gifts and clothing for the families. The theme is to celebrate with others, not for them, therefore living out the Jesuit mission and honoring everyone's invisible talents and challenges.

We encourage anyone interested to attend our Open House on Sunday, November 6 from 12-2 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Loyola Center.

Freshman Class Elections

Elections for the freshmen class are taking place on November 4. ASB officers serve as the school's student government. As leaders elected by their peers, ASB officers are expected to both contribute to a positive school atmosphere and to practice values of Ignatian leadership.

Service Learning

Bellarmine has a program for sophomore's called the Service and Justice blending-learning program. It is a two-year course which covers Catholic Social Teaching and direct community service. The program will not be reflected on the transcript until the end of the junior year. Progress in the Service and Justice program will be available on FamilyLink. For more information on this program, click here.

Encounter Retreats

Junior retreats, the Men's Junior Encounter and the Women's Junior Encounter, are voluntary. They are three-day, overnight retreats on weekends away from campus and are designed to build community, strengthen self and deepen one's faith in God. The Encounters are offered six times throughout the school year.

Please note, the first Men's Encounter was rescheduled due to weather. It will now be held January 14-16. Here is a note from the director of the Men's Encounter:
Hey Bellarmine families, we are looking for some adult males willing and available to attend the Men's Junior Encounter this year. The new dates are December 3-5, January 14-16, and February 11-13.  If you are interested or have contact info for someone who is, please contact Mark Modarelli (
