2017 Asian American Summit

The Asian American Pacific Islander Summit instilled the idea of kapua into everyone who attended it. Kapua is a Filipino term that recognizes the spiritual connection that all people share. Being connected to other Asian American students is important for creating a stronger community here at Bellarmine Prep, and the summit was a bridge for us to connect to people we wouldn't usually talk to, or even meet. We learned that everyone shares the same dreams, hopes, and fears, started from a common background, and that is what links all of us together. Coming out of this amazing experience cultivated a new sense of kapua in each one of us and we hope to make a strong impression of our Asian culture and character on our school in order to spread the love and vibrancy of all of the school's diversity.
