Reservations Due by Feb. 16 for Grandparents' Day on February 24

Last year's Grandparents' Day was incredibly successful, and we are expecting this year's event to be that and much more. This is a wonderful afternoon in which students can introduce their grandparents to the Bellarmine community. We ask that you encourage your student(s) to invite their grandparents to join them for lunch and a special visit to the Bellarmine campus. We also ask that you pre-purchase lunch for your parent(s) and student to better coordinate lunches and assure we have enough seating. This event typically sells out, so we encourage you to make reservations early. Reservations are required by Friday, February 16. We also need parent volunteers to make this day possible.

Announcing the 2017 Bellarmine Gala March 18; Unlocking the Future

Preparations are underway for our annual PRIDE Auction, which we have rebranded the Bellarmine Gala. It will be an evening filled with excitement and festivities--but we need your help. The success of the auction relies heavily on the generosity of parents like you. Through the support of our community, our annual auction has become one of Bellarmine’s largest fundraisers. Proceeds from the auction help us to meet our operational budget, but most importantly allows us to provide a superior educational experience for the young men and women of Bellarmine.

Each family’s participation is critical to the success of the Gala. We invite you to make personal donations of cash, goods or services and/or reach out to your community of friends, family members and businesses you frequent for donations and return completed procurement forms by February 6.  We thank you in advance for your generous gifts of time, talent and treasure. For donation ideas and volunteer opportunities (we’d love your help), please see the link below.

Spring Play Auditions

Information regarding audition dates for the Spring Play, as well as information about the play will be released in January.

Learning Resource Center Update

We are excited to share with you the library construction project began over Christmas break. Last spring our Pride Auction raised approximately $190,000 for the Learning Resource Center, specifically to support the facility needs of the LRC (located in the library). You will now notice the main entrance into the library, located on the east side of Orell, will not be accessible as the construction project includes a redesign of the that entrance. Instead, students and employees will enter the library through the exterior door located on the north-west side of Orell. There is almost always some disruption related to a construction project, but the construction company is working diligently to minimize the disruption. We are so excited for the completed projected and the opportunities the LRC will offer to our current and future students.

We will continue to keep you informed about the project.

Experience Bellarmine Days

Invite your future Lion to register for an Experience Bellarmine Day today! Click here for more information.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities – Philomathea and Lions Den

Philomathea is a Bellarmine parent group dedicated to assisting the school community’s efforts and providing the students with an education in the Jesuit tradition.

Our history:
•    Did you know that the Lions Den is the main fundraising arm of Philomathea?
•    Philomathea, which is Greek for “Lover of Learning” is a Bellarmine Parent Service Organization to which all Bellarmine parents automatically belong.
•    It was started years ago as the Bellamine’s Mothers’ Club, which got together once a month, went to Mass, held luncheons, card parties and created fundraisers which included Christmas boutiques and Fashion Shows.
•    In 1985, they decided to start a student store and called it the Lions Den.
•    They began the endeavor with about 15 volunteers, a few sweatshirts, supplies, balloons, and candy, operating only 2-3 days per week.
•    Fast forward to today … The Lions Den is comprised of over 250 parent volunteers. Our store carries a variety of snack options, drinks, cup of noodles, and energy bars for our active teenagers.
•    The Den strives to be open EVERY day, because of dedicated, wonderful parents like you!

Including the Lions Den, Philomathea has parent volunteers that assist our school in a variety of ways: Football Concessions, Wreath Sales, Hospitality – Open House & Prospective Family Night, Grad Mass & Breakfast, and Teacher & Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

How Bellarmine Communicates with Students

Students at Bellarmine receive information about what is happening at the school in a variety of ways.
The two main platforms are:
  • Lion Tracks – These are daily announcements which on B days are read to the students by their Community Period Teacher, and are also emailed to the students. Lion Tracks are the best way for students to stay up-to-date on school information.
  • Campus Center Screens: The screens in the campus center display the daily announcements, which students can view during lunch time, passing periods, and before and after school.

Students wishing to make an all-school announcement must provide the information to Ms. Achziger for approval by email at achzigerj@bellarmineprep.org or in person in the Student Services Office in the Campus Center.

It is the responsibility of the student to read the announcements, and we encourage you to remind your student of this.

Class of 2020:  "Tailgate" & Basketball Game

Friday, January 20th 6:00 - 8:30 PM

All freshmen are invited to attend the pizza "tailgate" prior to the boys' basketball game on Friday, January 20th. The evening festivities will begin in the Connelly Campus Center at 6:00 PM - pizza, salad, and cookies will be served, along with some fun that the ASB have planned for the Class of 2020! Students will attend the boys' basketball game together and cheer on the team! Please have your child sign up for the "Tailgate" & Game during lunches on Wednesday, January 18th - Friday, January 20th. We are asking that the students give a donation when they sign up. The donations will be sent to Cristo Rey Baton Rouge Franciscan High School. (In August 2016, just after 4 days of school, the flood waters that ravaged Louisiana forced the closure of the school, and many of their students and staff lost their homes and all their possessions). We are hoping that the Class of 2020 is able to raise at least $1,000 to send to Baton Rouge!

If you have any questions, please contact Cari Harrison, Enrollment Management Director, at 253.879-9771 or harrisonc@bellarmineprep.org.

Freshmen Retreat Scheduled for March 6-7

As a school which exists in the Jesuit Catholic tradition, Bellarmine Preparatory School strives to form young men and women both with and for others. To this end we have formed the Freshmen Formation program which began with the Breakaway days in August, followed by the Freshman Encore event in October, as well as the ongoing Faith in Formation classes in CP. During all of these activities the freshmen have begun to form bonds and friendships, while also gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to be a student at Bellarmine. This program will culminate in a freshmen retreat beginning at 6 p.m. on March 6th and ending on March 7th at 3 p.m. All freshmen students are expected to attend this overnight retreat. We welcome parent support to help chaperone. More information will be forthcoming following Christmas Break.
