Boys Golf Takes State Championship!!

Most schools are thrilled with a single state team championship. Bellarmine took not one, but two state golf team titles this spring – one for the girls and the other for the boys. Led by coach Steve George, the team won its second title in three years beating Issaquah by one stroke.

Meet the Head Coach

Steve George B' 85 took over the Bellarmine golf program in 1991. In his 27 years as head coach, Steve has led the Lions to 16 Narrows League championships, one SPSL championship, and 10 state championships, including three in row.

As a player at Bellarmine, Steve was the number one ranked player on the Lion's 1985 state champion team. After graduation, he continued his education and playing career at Tacoma Community College and Oregon State University before returning to Tacoma to begin his teaching career at St. Charles Borromeo School. Steve and his wife, Wendy, who is also a teacher at St. Charles, have three daughters -- Madeleine B'12, Tessa B' 16 and Emma.
