Greenhouse Mission & History

Mission: Bellarmine is a Catholic college preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition. Its mission is to proclaim the Gospel message within an educational community and to graduate students who are leaders in action, modeled on Christ, and committed to the transformation He envisions for the world.
Our Mission : The President's Perspective
Bellarmine is the Jesuit high school in Tacoma, Washington, with the mission of making a time-honored Catholic spiritual tradition come alive for a new generation. A document called The Grad at Grad outlines specific expectations of our students. In a world of bewildering and exciting change, we want them to catch fire, become enthusiastic and disciplined learners, and discover in every experience that they are created by a God who loves them. But we don't want them to stop there. We expect them to take what they have learned and begin to make a difference in the world, even while they are still Bellarmine students.
The Jesuit educational tradition fosters rigorous scholarship, cares for the individual person, constantly adapts to new opportunities and challenges, translates values into action, and in all, centers learning on the person and message of Jesus Christ. In the United States, this tradition has been fostered by the 46 high schools that are members of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association. In addition, the Jesuits also sponsor 28 colleges and universities in this country alone.
I invite you to use this web site to answer practical questions and communicate with us. As you do, we hope to strengthen your participation in this sacred and exciting educational enterprise.
God bless!
Jack Peterson, President
