Mission & History

Bellarmine opened its doors in 1928. The Jesuits who founded the school set their goals to educate both the rich and the poor without distinction. They sacrificed every penny to keep their doors open for everyone. That philosophy guides Bellarmine today.
We do not set tuition at the actual cost to educate a student for two reasons:
(1) Such a price tag would turn away students for whom this is the right education; and
(2) We believe that stewardship is an important component of what we are about.
Current tuition only accounts for 75% of these costs. The other 25% comes from fundraising and the Endowment.
