Academic Course Overview
As a community of learning, Bellarmine maintains a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly engagement, and stimulating student-faculty interaction.
The essence of our college preparatory program draws on both traditional Jesuit, as well as more contemporary methodologies, to prepare students for lives of leadership and service. By providing rigorous programs of excellence that develop and harmonize the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical and creative, our ultimate goal is to produce graduates who will be leaders in action, modeled after Christ, and fearless in pursuing a Christian transformation of the world. This is our mission.
To ensure we achieve this mission, we are committed to continually developing a dynamic curriculum through review and evaluation, emphasizing elements of community service, incorporating life skills, and providing opportunities for creative and aesthetic development.
In recent years, we have expanded this commitment to include incorporating technology in all academic departments, increasing teaching skills and student programs to accommodate varied learning styles, and improving support for students who require additional help in the college preparatory environment.
In 2009, Bellarmine had its accreditation review and site visit from the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. This organization ensures excellence in education by holding schools accountable to rigorous standards and a process of continual improvement. The Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus also conducted a sponsorship review at this time to ensure Bellarmine is operating in the Ignatian tradition.
