Community Caring Campaign Kicks Off March 7

Bellarmine’s spring student fundraiser, Community Caring, is right around the corner! Community Caring is a stand-alone activity and part of a greater effort to raise funds for Bellarmine.

The Community Caring Campaign teaches students the importance of philanthropy, as well as service to others. Through the campaign, we ask students to take action in helping support their school through a letter-writing campaign.

Gifts made to the Community Caring Campaign go into The Bellarmine Fund -- Bellarmine's annual giving program. The Bellarmine Fund is the largest source of developed income to the school. It supports areas such as athletics, classroom technology, special academic programs, retreats, community service and spiritual programs, and tuition assistance -- areas and programs that impact and benefit each and every student.

In less than two weeks, each student will be asked to bring to school ten names and addresses. Extended family members, family friends, or acquaintances are typically names on the list. On March 19, 2012, in addition to bringing in 10 valid names and mailing addresses, every student will also hand-write a brief, polite personal request for support as an assignment in their Community Period class. Suggested wording will be provided, but students are encouraged to use their own words. A place for this message is included on the Community Caring form letters each student will receive.

In May, all Bellarmine students will participate in a school-wide walk around campus, showing their willingness to become men and women for others. The walk is the culmination of the Community Caring activity where students will demonstrate their solidarity in helping to raise the much-needed funds for Bellarmine. Results from the March letter writing campaign will be shared and celebrated.
