Nominations Open for Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher Award
The Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher Award is presented annually to a deserving Bellarmine faculty member. We welcome and encourage all nominations.
Award:
Consists of a plaque and a $1,500 grant to be used at the winner's discretion for personal development within the winner's field or for a special project within his/her field.
Purpose of the Award:
To hold out to the Bellarmine community and the community at large the educational values of Bellarmine by selecting an exemplar of those values.
Eligibility:
Recipient must work for Bellarmine in a teaching role, (includes counselors, coaches, librarians and campus ministers). An individual may win only once every three years.

Criteria:
- Although not necessarily a Catholic, the winner must exemplify Catholic, and specifically Jesuit, ideals in his/her life and teaching.
- Recipient must demonstrate an ability for and commitment to quality classroom instruction.
- Recipient must demonstrate a mastery of subject area.
- Recipient must contribute to the Bellarmine community in ways which go beyond the traditional instructional role; have an impact on the spiritual, social, intellectual, physical and financial life of the school in general.
Who May Nominate:
Any member of the Bellarmine community, employees, students, parents, alumni, Board members, etc., may submit a nomination. Nominations must contain sufficient information to allow the Selection Committee to evaluate the candidate according to the criteria.

Elizabeth Kelley Background:
Elizabeth Kelley is the grandmother of two Bellarmine alums and the daughter of a publisher of the Tacoma News Tribune. She gave the funding for the Elizabeth Kelley Award as a way of furthering excellence in education.
