Bellarmine Boosters
The Boosters are parents, alumni, and friends of Bellarmine interested in supporting the school's athletic program. If you have a child in athletics, you should definitely be a Booster.
What do the Boosters do?
The Boosters have a strong history of providing a yearly financial contribution to the school's athletic budget. In addition, the club sometimes provides financial assistance to particular teams or students for things such as attendance at sports camps, travel to and from invitational meets and tournaments, and special equipment requests made by the different sports teams.
The Boosters provide a plaque and recognition to boys and girls selected as "Athlete of the Month" as well as "Athletes of the Year." The club also provides the championship banners displayed in the gymnasium. Other Booster activities include barbecues before football games, an occasional ice cream social after football games as well as organizing bus trips to away games (football and basketball). The Boosters also provide security, scorekeepers, the football chain gang and announcers at various athletic events.
How do the Boosters raise funds?
The Boosters try to avoid asking people for financial contributions, but raise money by activities intended to be entertaining, community-building events as well as fundraising. Some of the current activities include:
What does it cost to be a Booster?
It costs nothing to be a Booster. Just indicate your interest using our membership form and we'll put you on the membership list. Click here for the membership form.
What do you get for nothing?
The Boosters send a monthly newsletter that contains comments about every team fielded by the school. Also, the newsletter has schedules, times for events and the results of each event.Team statistics are also featured. The newsletter includes the current development plans for the Athletic Department as well as frequent notes about alumni (former athletes). The newsletter provides announcements for upcoming Booster events such as bus trips, fundraisers and sports celebrations. Sports celebrations are held following each season with a free dinner, comments on the sports results, presentations of Athletes of the Month (or year) and a speaker (and they are good). That's nine information packed newsletters a year plus three terrific meetings, which provide some interesting memories for you and recognition for the kids.
What's the catch?
The Booster leadership hopes there are movers and shakers out there who wish to make a personal contribution such as time or participation in an event---it's your choice. Boosters are encouraged to attend or support Booster events. There are many ways you can help! The Boosters provide occasional support for specific athletic events and fundraisers and also have an active Board that attends to budgets, event staffing as well as short- and long-term planning for the organization. Personal contributions to the Boosters range from active, long-term involvement with the Board to perhaps a one-time participation in an event or just to buying raffle tickets--it's your choice.
