Orell Library
Philosophy
The staff of the Orell Library believes that students should learn information skills adaptable to all types of libraries and should be encouraged to use libraries for continuing education. The purpose of the library is to encourage students in learning, questioning, finding and adapting knowledge for their use.
Services
A library media specialist and an assistant librarian staff the library, supported by part-time staff, adult volunteers, and student aides. Service to students, faculty, staff and parents is of primary importance. Offerings include library orientation to all 9th grade English classes, instruction in research to classes doing term papers and projects, individual help to students, preparation of bibliographies of selected subject areas, reading advisors, and book selection to support and supplement the curricula.
The library provides various areas for quiet study and recreational reading, computer research, audiovisual viewing, word processing, small meetings, and conferences.
