Parent Information Nights 2012-13
The Counseling Office conducts Parent Nights throughout the year to provide parents with information on issues and school process. Counselors are also available to consult with parents on an appointment basis during the school day.
Senior Parent Night
September 25, 2012 7-8:30 pm - Theater
In September, we address the issues involved with seniors as they transition from high school to college. We also revisit the college application process and the importance of time lines and deadlines.
College Financial Aid Night
November 27, 2012 7-8:30 pm - Theater
Parents of seniors who are applying for college financial aid, as well as interested parents of juniors and sophomores, are encouraged to attend the College Financial Aid Night. The ins and outs of applying for financial aid and scholarships are discussed as well as the FAFSA form.
Junior Parent Night
January 8, 2013 7-8:30 pm - Theater
All parents of juniors at Bellarmine are encouraged to attend Junior Parent Night as this is our opportunity to discuss in depth the college search. We will highlight the continued use of the Naviance software as a tool in the process for both parents and students. Upcoming testing requirements and registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse will also be addressed. We will end the evening with options for the summer and an anticipation of the elements of the application process for the coming fall.
Sophomore Parent Night
February 12, 2013 7-8:30 pm -Theater
On Sophomore Parent Night, counselors meet with sophomore parents to review the results of their PLAN scores from the fall standardized testing. Explanation of the PLAN test, their scoring, their relative importance in the college process, and appropriate preparation for further tests are topics for discussion in this presentation. We will introduce the college counseling staff and the Naviance software as a college search and planning tool for both parents and students. Parents are encouraged to bring their copy of their student's PLAN results.
