Bellarmine Summer School 2012
Presents
Summer Writing Workshop
July 9-13 (no class on July 11)
Brochure/Registration Form
This summer Bellarmine celebrates the return of a comprehensive writing course that focuses not only on writing for English classes but also writing for the SAT and the usage of proper MLA formatting. The writing addition to the SAT has been implemented to help determine the student’s ability in developing an independent point of view about a clearly defined topic.
In addition to writing for the SAT, students will also explore Diane Hacker’s “The Bedford Handbook,” which covers appropriate grammar usage and sentence structure, as well as MLA formatting. This focus will assist students in reading essay questions, how to read short passages, and ultimately how to outline and revise concise, attentive responses to specific prompts.
Though there will be a strong focus on preparing for the SAT, this course would be appropriate for any student interested in improving their essay writing skills in preparation for senior level composition or college courses.
Session One: Taught by Mr. Clifford, this course meets four days: Monday, July 9th through Friday, July 13th, with no class on Wednesday, July 11th, from 9am-noon.
Cost: $120.00.
Location: Weber Hall, Room #3-4
Note: Minimum enrollment is required (10). Refunds will be offered in case of course cancellation.
