RE: H1N1 Flu Update
I know the anticipation of the flu season has been an everyday media occurrence, but I want to inform you about the steps we are taking to prepare for the upcoming flu season.
I have been working closely with the Pierce County Health Department (DOH) in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and state and federal agencies in order to make decisions about the best steps to take to decrease the spread of the flu at Bellarmine. I will keep you informed via e-news as changes occur.
I have listed here some of the current guidelines and recommendations from the above-noted agencies for the 2009/10 school year and I would like to follow these as best as possible. The first set of guidelines is if we experience conditions with similar severity as last spring; the second is if conditions worsen (I will send notification if we move into following the recommendations for increased severity).
If you want additional information or have specific questions regarding the H1N1 flu, please contact your health care provider or utilize some of the websites available such as www.flu.gov or you can contact the Center for Disease Control 24 hours a day at 1-800-232-4636 or cdcinfo@cdc.gov.
Thank you for your assistance as we all work to prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu as well as the spread of our normal seasonal flu, colds, and viruses.
Sincerely,
Chris Gavin
Principal
