Summer, 2012
Dear Senior Parents:
Thank you for your interest in helping as an adult on the Senior Pilgrimage on September 15-16, 2012. Without your assistance and presence, we cannot offer the Pilgrimage. It's a beautiful location (Beacon Rock State Park) and gives parent chaperones an opportunity to have a fun, outdoor weekend with a group of seniors and help Bellarmine and Campus Ministry to be able to offer this popular program.
I need about 15 parents to chaperone and/or assist. My absolute priority is that I need overnight parent chaperones. I need you for the time after the campfire on Saturday evening to help me get the seniors to bed (no later than 12:00 midnight) and help monitor the seniors in their tents until about 1:00 a.m.
Two Options For Chaperones to Meet Group
If you would be willing to chaperone, you have two options:
1. Hike with the seniors and other faculty/admin chaperones from the trailhead near Beacon Rock State Park. This means (A) you drive on your own following the charter buses or (B) ride on the charter buses helping with your adult presence.
2. OR Meet the senior and faculty hikers at the Beacon Rock group camp about 5:00 PM and join us for dinner and mass.
Chaperone Sleeping Arrangements
Two sleeping options are available for chaperones:
1. Bring your own tent and sleep in between and around the seniors in their designated area.
2. Use a camper, trailer, or tent trailer or RV if you own one and park it near the seniors so you can help monitor them.
Chaperone Requirements
All parent chaperones must be cleared through the President's Assistant's office by completing a background check, Bellarmine's Code of Ethical Conduct document, and one online safe environment training course (course takes about 20 minutes to complete). Please contact Di Martin at martind@bellarmineprep.org or 253-879-9723 for instructions.
Thank You
Thanks very much for your understanding and willingness to work with us through this process prior to your volunteering on the Pilgrimage. We appreciate all you are doing for Bellarmine and our students.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you can commit to this. God's blessings to you.
Sincerely,
Jim Fish
