Bellarmine Board Votes Unanimously to Begin Construction of New Booster Gym
November 17, 2009 -- Bellarmine?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Board of Directors passed a resolution today to begin construction of a new Booster Gym. Though the decision was unanimous, it was the product of much debate over many meetings, both of the Board and various committees. Board members heard reports from the It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Game Time Campaign Cabinet, Facilities Committee and the Finance Committee that the campaign has topped the $5 million mark in commitments toward the $8 million capital campaign and that the school has a reasonably good chance of securing New Market Tax Credit Funding.
Booster Gym to be Demolished Feb. 12-15th
Last Basketball Games in "Old Gym" February 5th
The risks of waiting and having costs increase and the students and employees exposed to earthquakes convinced Board members that they needed to commit now to a February start time frame. So with this decision, we expect the Booster Gym to be substantially demolished during President's Day weekend this coming February. Given the 10-month construction schedule, we would have the new gym available by next November, in time for the winter sports season.
Support The Gym Campaign: $3 Million More Needed
Campaign volunteers and staff continue to work diligently to meet the $8 million fundraising goal. We ask for your prayers and financial support of this important endeavor for Bellarmine and its student body.
