This year is the fourth year for Coach Don Begay in coaching the Lady Lions -- who took the Narrows League title in the winter of 2004. Born and raised in Hawaii, Don helped coach the Lady Lions bowling team to two state and three district appearances.
Don was drafted in the Army during the Korean Conflict and remained in the military until 1973. Chief Warrant Officer Don Begay retired as a military instructor pilot for helicopters and light airplanes. He later worked for the city of Tacoma as a facility maintenance chief at the Tacoma Dome until he retired in 1985. A widower, Don lives in the local area near his three children and eight grandchildren.
Don has bowled in numerous local and national tournaments. His honors include bowling four 300 perfect games, being named a three-time Senior All-Star of Tacoma and a win with The Northwest Senior Tour. He enjoys teaching youngsters and seniors the fundamentals of bowling and hopes to continue helping them for years to come.
