Meet the Head Coach

Craig Coovert started with the Bellarmine softball program as an assistant in 2004 and became Head Coach in the spring of 2007. He begins his seventh varsity coaching season this year. His teams have qualified for the District Tournament every year he has coached. In 2012, the Lady Lions won the 4A Narrows League title, finished second in the West Central District 4A tournament, and qualified for and competed in the State Tournament.

In the 2012 season, Craig was voted Narrows League 4A Coach of the Year and was honored by The News Tribune as All-Area Softball Coach of the Year.

A 1996 Peninsula High graduate, Craig was a key contributor to his team’s 8th place finish in state, earning All-League honors as both pitcher and first baseman. He went on to play baseball at Pacific Lutheran University and graduated from there in 2000.

Craig is Director of Alumni Relations at Bellarmine. He has also coached c-team volleyball at Bellarmine and was an adult leader with his wife, Katrina, of the school's Mission Mexico program.

Craig, his wife Katrina, and sons Levi, Seth, and Cody, live in University Place.
