Science Department Philosophy 
The philosophy of the Science Department relates to the school's goals academic excellence and social concern. For this reason, science courses are aimed at providing students with an academic curriculum that reflects high standards of performance in scientific study of the laws of nature, use of scientific methods of inquiry and experimentation, and an appreciation of God's divine gift of creation. The objective of the Science Department is to provide students with an understanding of the scientist's approach to problem-solving, and knowledge of the use of the instruments and language of science. The curriculum aims at an understanding of the nature of scientific knowledge in relationship to other forms of knowing. The department offer both college preparatory courses and one-semester courses oriented toward special interests.
