Academic Readiness Summer Program
Jump Start Your Experience!

Bellarmine offers an Academic Readiness Summer Program designed for incoming 9th graders who will benefit from a jump start to Bellarmine’s college preparatory curriculum. Classes meet on campus Monday through Thursday.
Dress code for readiness courses is the same as the regular school year. As always, modesty should prevail. Please refer to the Bellarmine Handbook for more information.

Cost of class will be billed towards student's tuition by Bellarmine's Business Office.

English Readiness
Monday-Thursday, August 12 – August 22 
8:00 – 9:20 a.m. or 9:30 – 10:50 a.m. 

Students will be introduced to the freshman English curriculum through an integrated reading and writing approach. Lesson design will emphasize the connection between reflective thinking, reading and writing. Instruction will target strategies for building vocabulary and active reading for literacy and nonfiction text. Writing strategies will focus on sentence fluency, paragraph structure, organization and conventions.

Algebra Readiness
Monday-Thursday, August 12 – August 22
8:00 – 9:20 a.m. or 9:30 - 10:50 a.m.

This course is designed for students entering Algebra 1 who need a review of rational numbers (fractions, decimals, percentages), operations with integers, and pre-algebra skills including constructing graphs, tables and writing equations. Lesson design will focus on multiple modality learning to solidify the core skills needed for Algebra.

Algebra Enhancement
Monday-Thursday, August 12 – August 22
8:00 – 9:20 a.m. or 9:30 – 10:50 a.m.

This course is designed for students entering Geometry or Algebra 2 who will benefit from a review of linear, quadratic, exponential and inverse functions, rational expressions, and exponents.

Power of Partnership: Optimizing for Freshman Success
August 13:  8:00 – 9:00 a.m. or
August 20:  6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This one-hour workshop is an opportunity for parents to meet in a small group setting and discuss before school starts, how to support their student at home. We will discuss navigating digital learning use (iPad), the structure of Bellarmine’s academic supports, and how to set up complementary systems at home for freshman academic success. Come learn about Bellarmine’s rules of academic engagement. To sign up for this workshop, please contact Cari Harrison, Director of Enrollment.
There is no cost for this workshop.

•  Class size is limited. Registration will be accepted in order of date received.
•  Minimum enrollment is required for each class to be held. Session assignments may be altered to accommodate class size. All fees are refunded if a class is canceled.
•  Please register for only one class per time slot.
•  Tuition Assistance must be requested in writing through the Academic Readiness Summer Program (not the Student Accounts Office). Availability of funds is not guaranteed.

The cost for each course is $225.00, which will be billed to the student's tuition account.
