Volunteer Opportunities

As a way of keeping costs down and involving parents in the school, Bellarmine offers a number of opportunities to volunteer in several different areas.

Volunteer in the Development Office: In the Development Office, volunteers are constantly needed for these or other jobs below. If you are interested in volunteering in the Development Office, please call (253) 761-3520 to learn more.

Volunteer with Philomathea: Philomathea is a Bellarmine parent service organization dedicated to supporting the school community's efforts to provide the students with an education in the Jesuit tradition. Lion's Den Student Store: The Lion's Den Student Store is run by volunteers. Please contact the Lion's Den to find out about opportunities, bplionsden@aol.com.

Adopt-a-Family: Bellarmine's Adopt-a-Family program provides Christmas day meals, a "stocked cupboard," Christmas gifts and clothing for families in need. Volunteers are needed in assisting with the preparations and delivering of gifts. Contact: Julie Hiles.

Boosters: Organization of parents, alumni and friends of Bellarmine interested in supporting the school's athletic program. Contact the main office.

Orell Library: Volunteers are needed in assisting library staff with duties as assigned. Contact Kathy Maxey

Family Housing Network: Family Housing Network, previously called Phoenix Housing Network, is an interfaith transitional housing program of Catholic Community Services organized to assist families with children to obtain financial stability, independence and permanent housing. Volunteers are needed to help assist Bellarmine in this program for fall and/or spring. Contact: Robert Payne

Weekend Retreats: Campus Ministry programs help students deepen their faith in God. The retreat program provides students with opportunities to participate in reflective experiences in communal settings to gain deeper insights into self-knowledge, sensitivity to others, and a faith in God. Volunteers needed to assist with the numerous weekend retreats that are offered. Contact: Jody DeGroot

Wiegand Nursery and Greenhouse: Wiegand Nursery and Greenhouse on the Bellarmine campus provides opportunities for students to work with and learn from plant life. Volunteers are needed to work in the greenhouse, especially during the annual plant sales. Contact Lila Transue.
