Heidi Alessi Avak is the Vice President, Senior Employee Benefits Counsel for Providence St. Joseph Health, a world-class Catholic healthcare system operating in five western states with a 100+ year tradition of serving vulnerable populations. Prior to Providence, Heidi was a partner at K&L Gates, Seattle’s largest international law firm. 

Since joining the Bellarmine community as a parent, Heidi has been active in several volunteer roles including past service on the Personnel Committee. Currently, she is the Co-Chair of the Membership and Governance Committee, a standing sub-committee of the Board of Directors. 

Giving back to and participating in her community is important to Heidi and is demonstrated through her volunteer leadership. She is the founder of the Fox Island Community Connections and South Puget Sound Young Men’s Service League organizations. Additionally, she has previously served on the boards of the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Epilepsy Foundation, and is the founding parent of Louisa Boren STEM K-8, Seattle Public School’s first option school focused on STEM and project-based learning. 
  
Heidi believes Bellarmine is a model program committed to producing thoughtful and compassionate future leaders through support for all students. As a board member and first generation college graduate, she is a committed steward for ensuring that a high-quality Bellarmine education is accessible to all who seek it, including diverse students and those traditionally underrepresented in the area's private schools.

Heidi and her husband, John Avak, live on Fox Island with their five children, including two upcoming graduates, classes of ’23 and ’27.
