Jim Dempsey has spent the past 11 of his 25 years as an educator at Bellarmine, teaching AP U.S. History and Psychology. As the Director of Student Leadership, Jim leads his colleagues in creating opportunities for students to harness their characteristics and skills, developing their own unique leadership style so they may be impactful on the world around them. His open-door policy with students makes him a beloved and respected faculty member.

Additionally, Jim currently serves as the President of Bellarmine’s Faculty Senate, a committee he has been on for eight years. He also coaches the school’s girls and boys varsity soccer programs, with the latter recently capturing the 2022 WIAA Class 4A State Championship.

Jim believes the Jesuit education Bellarmine provides is vital to the world we live in, and personally embraces the Jesuit core values that are the school’s foundation, stating, “This community serves an important purpose by helping to shape our future leaders for the South Sound area and beyond.”

Bellarmine runs through Jim’s family, from his father, who graduated in 1956, through his siblings and extended family members, who all graduated in the 80s. He and his wife Megan, Bellarmine ’92, graduated one son from Bellarmine in 2022 and have a daughter currently attending the school.
