David Vanderwall B'16

After graduating from Bellarmine in 2016, David went on to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2020. He also ran Varsity Track and Field and played Varsity Lacrosse during his four years at Rhodes
While studying at Rhodes, David got a job as a Researcher at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in June of 2019. David had plans of attending medical school immediately after finishing at Rhodes but was encouraged by mentors to continue his work at St. Jude before beginning medical school. During his three years at St. Jude, David studied, Bioinformatics, Ultra-Deep Mass Spectrometry-Based Proteomics, Alzheimer's and Cancer.

At the end of this summer, David will begin the MD PhD program at Harvard Medical School. The mission of this program, “is to train the next generation of premier and diverse physician-scientist leaders, who represent a rich spectrum of clinical disciplines and research areas from basic and translational sciences to bioengineering to the social sciences.” This program is for highly qualified students pursuing both an MD and a PhD. David will be studying Oncology and describes himself on LinkedIn as, “passionate about the governing dynamics that drive cancer pathogenesis and the mathematical principles found within them.” To learn more about the MD PhD program, click here.
