Ken Brown 2023 Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to History Teacher Ken Brown -- recipient of the 2023 Exemplary Teacher Award.
The Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher Award annually highlights a faculty member who goes beyond the basic job description of being a teacher at Bellarmine. The award winner must exemplify the Jesuit ideals in his/her life and teaching, exhibit quality instruction in the classroom, a mastery of his/her subject area, and contribute to bettering the Bellarmine community. 

Here are a few highlights from Josh Albers B’23 speech about Mr. Brown delivered at the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 22.

Nearly every recommendation emphasized two main characteristics that this teacher possesses… fun and engaging. One student wrote, “this teacher doesn’t just teach their class, the make it feel like a full experience, and they put their own twist on everything that makes it engaging, challenging and fun.”

Another attribute that this teacher holds is the passion for the subject they teach. One of the recommendations captured this perfectly saying, “I really value it when a teacher has the ability to make students genuinely care about the subject and shares a genuine passion for the subject with the class.”
