Catholic Schools Week Featured Alum - Claire Schomogyi

We are honored to end Catholic Schools Week with our Featured Alumna, Claire Schomogyi, B’20. She shares with us why she is proud to be a Lion, and what she has been up to while studying at Marquette University.
Currently, Claire is a senior at Marquette University majoring in theology, minoring in psychology and biology, with a concentration in Innovative Leadership. In the future, she hopes to earn her doctorate in Occupational Therapy!

“I am proud that we [Lions] work for social justice, engage in deep dialogues, promote living in our faith, and maintain an openness to growth.

Catholic schools shaped me to see how the individual gifts we are given can, and should, be used in service to others. In light of this, I will be embarking on a year of service with FrancisCorp after graduation to help serve the marginalized communities in Syracuse, New York. I would not be where I am today without the push of my Catholic education to work, live, and breathe for something beyond myself, and in my case, this something is God.

I participated in an Innovative Leadership Program while here at Marquette (usually offered to CEOs and high executives elsewhere). I have led retreats, served as President of multiple organizations, engaged in synodal report writing for the Catholic Church, worked for 3 summers in a theology-leadership internship at a Benedictine Monastery, and traveled as a pilgrim to World Youth Day 2023 in Portugal.

From cloud gazing to deep thought surrounding the complexities of leadership after my Excellence in Innovative Leadership Program course, I find myself sitting in awe of the world. I accredit this disposition to my Jesuit Education.”
