Dan Shaw

Daniel Shaw graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School in 1994, where as a student athlete, he lettered in basketball and baseball, in addition to being a two-year defensive back and running back starter for the school’s football team. Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in history from PLU, where he played under a football scholarship. He went on to earn his Masters of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN.
 
In 2002, Daniel was ordained a Lutheran pastor, serving at Zion Lutheran Church, Kent, WA. After becoming a commissioned LTJG United States Naval Reserves officer in 2003, he served as a chaplain, deploying to multiple Iraqi locations with a U.S. Marine Corps unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. With his military service, he provided pastoral support, bible studies and worship opportunities for our troops. In 2011, Daniel was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.
 
Currently the pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tacoma, Daniel also serves as a defensive coordinator for Bellarmine’s football program. In October 2022, Daniel’s 1993-94 basketball team was inducted into Bellarmine’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
 
Daniel and his wife, Kim, B’91, have three boys, Luke, Eli and Chance.
