National Merit Finalist Announced

Bellarmine Preparatory School is thrilled to congratulate and recognize Maya Krattli B’24 for the honor of being named not only a Semifinalist back in September, but now a FINALIST for the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Maya is among academically talented high school seniors who have earned the opportunity to continue to compete for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will soon be offered.
High school juniors entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists which represented LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

To earn the title of Finalist, Maya completed a detailed scholarship application, in which information was provided about her academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment and the honors and awards she has received.

An outstanding academic record throughout high school is required, as well as being endorsed and recommended by an RCS official, writing an essay, and earning SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test, were also prerequisites to being considered for the Finalist Award.  Approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, and we are so proud of what Maya has already accomplished, and can not wait to witness the amazing things she will continue to go on to do.

Congratulations Maya, from your Lion family!
