The theme for this year's Dr. Martin Luther Jr. Assembly is Unity, which connects directly with our theme for the school year "Imagination: Building a Hope Filled Future," because if we are unified we can bring people together to work towards a common goal and foster a sense of community and cooperation.
The keynote speaker is the Honorable Sabrina Ahrens, Pierce County Superior Court Judge. Judge Ahrens received her law degree from Seattle University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from University of Washington. She has more than 17 years of legal experience in Western Washington, serving as court commissioner for the Pierce County Superior Court from 2017-2019, where she presided over a variety of civil and criminal hearings. Before that she worked for the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for 14 years as deputy prosecuting attorney and served as pro tem judge for the Olympia and Lakewood Municipal Courts.
She was appointed to the seat to be judge for the Pierce County Superior Court in Washington by Governor Jay Inslee in 2019.
Along with Judge Ahrens address, Bellarmine students have prepared a video about how we as a Bellarmine community can live out Dr. King's vision of unity at Bellarmine.
