Mary Byrne B’79 is a lifelong resident of Tacoma, a Bellarmine alumna, and a dedicated servant leader whose professional and philanthropic efforts embody the mission of Catholic, Jesuit education. As a member of Bellarmine’s first coeducational class, she graduated in 1979 and has maintained a deep connection to the school ever since.

We recently caught up with Bellarmine alum Ava Hayes B'24, now a sophomore at the University of Arizona, to hear about her journey since graduation. Majoring in Fashion and Business Administration with a focus on Merchandising, she is exploring ways to combine her passion for fashion with entrepreneurship, with the goal of launching her own business. Since leaving Bellarmine, she has gained hands-on experience through modeling, internships, and retail work, while staying involved on campus as a member of the Eller School of Business Sales Club and Alpha-Phi Sorority.

The Bellarmine Girls Sailing Team took first place at the Northwest Interscholastic Sailing Association’s Girls Qualifier in Olympia, WA, on September 13–14, beating out 14 other teams.
We are thrilled to share that Plinio Gutierrez-Delgado, World Language faculty member at Bellarmine, has been honored with the St. John Baptist de la Salle Educator Excellence Award from the Fulcrum Foundation.
