Senior Pot Blessing Celebration

Connelly Campus Center
The Senior African American Pot Blessing Celebration is a pre-commencement dinner and program prepared by PAASA (Parents of African American Student Association) that is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of each African and African American senior during their time at Bellarmine.  The ceremony is representative of African and African American culture and heritage, embraces the value of community and scholarship, and culminates with a Kente cloth stole presentation by their parents. The Kente cloth stole is then worn at graduation on June 1st 2025.  The "pot" concept refers to the fact that all members of the community bring a dish to share. The "blessing" component of the celebration makes reference to the spiritual presence of God and and His blessing on our graduating seniors. Seniors are encouraged to invite special teachers and coaches.
