Founded in 1928, Bellarmine is a coeducational, Jesuit, Catholic, college preparatory high school serving approximately 900 students in grades 9–12. The school is a member of the Jesuit Schools Network, a global community of schools in the United States and around the world dedicated to forming young people who are intellectually competent, open to growth, loving, religious and committed to justice.
Bellarmine is accredited by Cognia, is in good standing with the National Catholic Educational Association, and has a Certificate of Private School Approval from the Washington State Board of Education. Its 44-acre campus, located in the scenic city of Tacoma, offers sweeping views of Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound, while serving a diverse community across the South Sound region.
Guided by the charism of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Bellarmine’s mission is to provide a quality Catholic education rooted in the Jesuit tradition—forming compassionate graduates who are prepared to lead with integrity and a lifelong commitment to faith and justice. The school community embraces the Ignatian call to be Men and Women for and with Others, weaving spirituality and service into every aspect of student life.
Bellarmine is a thriving school, boldly carrying this mission forward as it nears its centennial in 2028. The school is recognized in AP and dual credit offerings, research and scholarship, real-world experience, career and vocational pathways, global engagement, faith formation and leadership. Bellarmine believes in the divine and unique gifts of every student, in the strength of community and in the joy of learning. Alongside rigorous and innovative academics, the school offers robust and award-winning co-curricular programs in Athletics, the Arts, Robotics, Computer Science, Journalism, Model UN, Knowledge Bowl and a wide array of student-led clubs.
The Principal serves as the chief academic, spiritual, and student life leader of Bellarmine, providing vision and leadership to ensure that every dimension of the school—academics, athletics, student life, co-curricular activities, and faith formation—fully embodies the mission of Jesuit education.
