Meet Coach Moorehead

Bobby Moorehead - Boys Basketball Head Coach

Bobby Moorehead is the Head Coach of the Bellarmine Boys Basketball program and is currently in his second year leading the Lions. He brings six years of coaching experience at the high school level, along with a strong competitive background as both a player and coach.

Coach Moorehead earned his degree in Marketing from the University of Montana, where he played collegiate basketball and competed in the NCAA Tournament twice. Prior to Bellarmine, he served as an assistant coach at Curtis High School from 2020 to 2024, helping lead the program to back-to-back state championships in 2022 and 2023.

At the core of Coach Moorehead’s coaching philosophy is a focus on effort and defensive principles. He believes that when players commit fully and play with consistent effort, they can grow through mistakes and compete at a high level. His teams emphasize toughness, accountability, and an “empty the tank” mindset, creating an environment where players trust one another and compete selflessly.

Originally from Tacoma, Coach Moorehead graduated from Stadium High School in 2015, where Bellarmine was a longtime rival. Even then, he admired Bellarmine’s strong sense of community and tradition. When the opportunity to coach at Bellarmine became available, he saw it as a natural fit and a meaningful next step in his coaching journey.

Beyond wins and losses, Coach Moorehead hopes his players leave the program with a transformed mindset toward competition, one rooted in grit, resilience, and courage. He challenges student-athletes to embrace failure as part of growth and to compete boldly in all areas of life. Central to his approach is the belief that faith provides strength and guidance, and that God walks with students through both challenges and successes.

Coach Moorehead enjoys good coffee, baseball, golf, and reading, particularly books of theology and faith. He and his wife have been married for six years and are raising three young children, a son and two daughters. He is grateful to coach at Bellarmine and is committed to forming student-athletes who compete with purpose, character, and conviction.
