Bellarmine Preparatory School Announces the Establishment of the J. James Gallagher Scholarship Endowment
Bellarmine Preparatory School is honored to announce the creation of the J. James Gallagher Scholarship Endowment, established by a close group of friends to celebrate the life, legacy, and values of James “Jim” Gallagher - distinguished banking attorney, dedicated servant leader, and devoted family man.
A graduate of Marquette High School in Yakima, Georgetown University, and the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, Jim Gallagher lived a life marked by intellectual curiosity, deep faith, and a profound commitment to service. His professional career spanned decades as a nationally respected banking attorney, including leadership roles with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Columbia Banking System, Elliott Cove Capital Management, and Pacific Wealth Advisors.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim was known for his generosity, enthusiasm for learning, and willingness to mentor and uplift others. He approached every aspect of life with passion - whether fly fishing, golfing, sharing big ideas, or supporting those around him. He embodied the Jesuit values of integrity, service, and care for the whole person. Jim and his wife, Margel, selected Bellarmine Preparatory School for their daughter, Sandy, who graduated in 1981, giving him a meaningful connection to the school as a parent.
The J. James Gallagher Scholarship Endowment will provide tuition assistance to Bellarmine students who demonstrate strong character, leadership, and a desire to serve others - qualities that defined Jim throughout his life.
“We are deeply grateful to Jim’s friends for choosing to honor him in a way that reflects his values so beautifully,” says Bellarmine leadership. “This scholarship ensures that Jim’s legacy of service and excellence will continue to influence future generations of Lions.”
Bellarmine Preparatory School is proud to steward this meaningful fund and continue celebrating the life of a man who made a lasting impact on the communities he touched.
