Pot Blessing Celebration for African American Seniors

Bellarmine's Pot Blessing Celebration for African American Seniors
Tuesday May 12, 2026
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Campus Center
The Pot Blessing Ceremony is a pre-commencement celebration to honor African and African American students who have successfully completed their requirements for a Bellarmine Preparatory High School diploma. The Ceremony is representative of African and African American culture and heritage, embraces the value of community and scholarship, and culminates with a Kente Stole presentation. The 'pot' concept refers to the fact that all members of the community bring a side dish to share in a “community pot.”  The “blessing” component of the celebration makes reference to the spiritual presence of God and His blessing on our graduating students.  This is a Celebration for graduates to be recognized for their accomplishments and provided an opportunity to honor significant people who have helped them achieve their goal. Students are honored together in one setting, and their families also get the opportunity to celebrate their hard work and dedication.  We are happy to announce there are 14 African American graduates in the Class of 2026 being honored!
